It’s strongly recommended that you create your account on a smartphone or tablet, not a desktop.

Because the SS website may try to verify your identity using your phone, either by a text message or scanning your ID. This makes the process much easier and more secure.
📝 3. Save Your Login Info
When you’re done creating your account, save your email and password in the Notes app on your phone or any secure place. You’ll need this again when you apply for Medicare.
